EACH X OTHER CAFE MARLY RUNWAY WITH ALINA BIRKNER
In the New Age, we are a rainbow in each other’s cloud. The Spring/Summer 2019 collection “New Age” is a visual manifestation lighted by a spectrum of color to represent a “solar” future. Since its inception under the creative direction of Ilan Delouis and Jenny Mannerheim, Each Other has been driven by the belief that artistic expression can change the society around us. Seven years later, Delouis and Mannerheim have evolved the brand – unveiling its new logo and DNA at Le Café Marly across from the Louvre.
The inspiration this season came from the artist Alina Birkner. Delouis and Mannerheim collaborated with the German painter bringing the visual holographic to life. Birkner is known for her exploration of color and light interaction, the artist melts gradients to create weightless luminosity through any canvas. Birkner’s instagram profile @new.age.shit inspired the name of this Each Other collection. The New Age collection draws inspiration from the 70’s fashion revolution in California. From retro motorcycle references to an evocation of Studio 54, the lineup seizes on an alluring convergence of unapologetic glamour, feminine tailoring, urban sport and sexy silhouettes. Signature statement suits emphasize on the fit and construction, but evoke an uplifting feeling with its array of colors or set in fuschia. An oversized leather moto jacket is refreshed with hand treated visual holographics, a seamless translation of art and sportswear. Streetwear has been given a glamourous, feminine refresh this season. Marine flared tracksuits are reinterpreted with western details, sporting crystal-encrusted fringe. An oversized ruched track jacket is paired with disco-themed biker shorts to reinforce the brand’s strong identity in mixing femininity and masculinity. Runway looks were paired with daring eyewear from Australian accessories designer Poppy Lissiman. It’s the present day update for the Each Other hybrid woman who has evolved culturally and artistically. Once again, Each Other has flawlessly displayed its inherent overlap of fashion and art.
