FRANCOIS MANGEOL

The Francois Mangeol collection plays with typography and space in a fashion entirely typical of the young designer’s work. Sports inspired jackets, striped shirt sleeves and silk scarves are embellished with times new roman, a font that we are well accustomed to, but the characters are jumbled in a style reminiscent of persian carpets, rendering them strange. This creates an overlying “occidorient” aesthetic that seamlessly mixes eastern and western cultures in a monochromatic palette, allowing for an in-depth exploration of the intricacies of visual culture.
